Gift stress? Gift a good night’s sleep! Read our 5 tips here!
We are counting the days until Christmas. Time for family, cosiness, lots of food and … presents! Do you also suffer from gift stress every year? Then why not give a good night’s sleep as a present? No more socks for your father-in-law, bottle of perfume for your sister or toaster for your mother. This year, you will score with your gifts! Discover our 5 gift tips here. Thank us later!

TIP 1: Home fragrances
Scenting your room half an hour before bedtime can help you fall asleep more easily. For example, you can diffuse an essential oil through a room diffuser or light a candle. Some scents help you relax and de-stress, such as lavender. For even more effect, it is recommended to put a drop of essential oil on a cloth you put under your pillow. This will keep you relaxed throughout the night. Candles are also effective because they don’t smell too aggressive. Light them half an hour before bedtime and the scent will help you leave for dreamland. Don’t forget to extinguish them when you crawl into bed, though.
TIP 2: Wake-up light
The ideal gift for people who find it hard to get out of bed in the morning? A wake-up light! With this kind of ‘light alarm clock’, he or she will never get out of bed on the wrong foot again. Quietly wake up to a simulated sunrise! Who wouldn’t want that? Besides, it also works the other way round: it mimics a sunset, making it easier to fall asleep.
TIP 3: Tea
Did you know that some teas make you fall asleep like a rose? Herbal teas with chamomile, lemon balm, lavender, valerian root and mint have a calming effect. A lot of tea brands offer nice packages during the holidays.
TIP 4: Aggravation blanket
We read a lot about this in the media, but an aggravation blanket effectively makes for a better night. The extra weight of the blanket provides deep pressure stimulation. This makes you feel cosy and safe, like being cuddled. The gentle pressure on your body makes your nervous system relax, your brain produces more happiness hormones and less stress hormones. So you fall asleep completely relaxed.
TIP 5: Book voucher
Reading before bed has a positive effect on your sleep quality. Reading a book provides distraction. And because you are distracted from everyday stress, your body will relax and your breathing will become calmer. This relaxation will help you sleep better and deeper. Best not to choose a thriller, though.
